Standing by in relief will be Casey Mears who will take over the 11 car should Hamlin be in too much discomfort. Another note about the race involves Carl Edwards, the driver responsible for the Brad Keselowski incident in Atlanta. This will be his final race of the three-race probation he has been serving. = Changes to the Subway Fresh Fit 600 = This is the 27th Sprint Cup race held at the Phoenix track, so many fans are accustomed to attending. These fans (and television viewers) will notice that the Subway Fresh Fit 600 has two notable changes. First, the race has been extended from being a 500 km race to being a 600 km competition. This increases the laps on the track from the former 318 to the new count of 375. Also, as part of an ongoing effort to move race starting times forward, the Subway Fresh Fit has changed to a 5: 30 MST (local time) start from its traditional 6: 30 MST start. Just so you know, no driver has participated in all twenty seven Phoenix events, although Mark Martin has raced in twenty six of them. = About the Phoenix International Raceway = The Phoenix track is a one mile long, oval shape with banking nine and eleven degree banking/turns, 3 degrees banking/frontstretch, and nine degrees banking/backstretch. Last year, Mark Martin came up with the win in the last 500 km run of the series. The grandstand at Phoenix seats 76,812 people who will watch the drivers competing for a $232,000 first place prize.
